Holbury Lakes Trout Fishery covers 40 acres of Test Valley countryside, and has been described as "the best-kept secret in Hampshire". It includes four lakes totalling 7-1/2 acres, each with its own character; it also has 700 yards of fishable banks of the River Dun, a tributary of the Test. The average depth of the lakes is 2+ metres (around 7 feet), and they are kept well stocked with rainbow and blue trout. The River Dun is stocked with brown trout only, and has a good head of wild fish.

The waters and banks are all lovingly cared for, and the mature trees around the waters make this one of the most attractive fishing spots you'll find anywhere. With the Fishery Office (by the car park) and the newly fitted out Fishing Lodge, there's plenty of shelter; and the fishing lodge also has washing and lavatory facilities. Free coffee and tea are available at the fishery office or the fishing lodge.

Holbury is noted for the quality of the fish, and we are very mindful of the need to preserve its unique ecology. It is a peaceful, scenic place to fish; with abundant wildlife to be seen—from buzzards to bank voles; frequent kingfishers to rare water rails. So we always endeavour to manage the lakes, the river, and the surrounding land with an eye not only to the fishing, but also to the natural history and ecology aspects which make Holbury—Holbury!

Flyfishing tuition is available by arrangement for flyfishers of all abilities. For more information, click here.

We look forward to meeting all customers, old and new, visiting us. (Look for the subtle improvements!)
