Holbury Lakes Trout Fishery offers superb corporate facilities for hospitality or away-days with excellent employee motivation and team building as well as simply a really enjoyable day out. Our fishery in Lockerley, near Romsey, has four large lakes and a chalk stream and is set in 40 acres of outstanding beautiful countryside, deep in the Test Valley. This perfect venue has been described as “one of the best-kept secrets in Hampshire” and can be made available for your exclusive use when you book a corporate day.
Do not worry that your guests or staff may be novices at fly fishing. Highly experienced instructors and ghillies are available to teach and help newcomers. In fact, this type of learning experience provides the basis for a highly stimulating and enjoyable day. At the same time, we can offer plenty of interest for the ‘old hand’. Each lake has its unique characteristics, which will provide plenty of scope and challenge. We can also offer access to chalk-stream fishing on the River Dun, which runs alongside the fishery. Both the lakes and the stream are usually gin clear, lightly fished and well-stocked with Rainbow, Brown, and Blue trout.
Each corporate day can be tailored to meet you and your guests’ specific needs, just let us know your objectives and we can guide you on how to create a memorable day.
A Typical Corporate Day
9:00 Arrive at Holbury Lakes Trout Fishery. Breakfast at the Fishing Hut. Meet the other guests (and ghillies) and have a brief introduction to the lakes.
9:30 All beginners can head off with the instructors for casting tuition. All other fly fishers can head to the water to start fishing. The ghillies will be on hand to give advice or lend a hand when required.
12:30 Lunch and drinks.
2:00 Afternoon fishing session continues
4:30 Tea and cakes at the fishing barn
4:45 Presentation from sponsors (if required). Prizes awarded to competition winners

This can provide meeting, presentation or dining facilities for up to 20 people. Ideal for delivering corporate messages, holding seminars, or briefing your employees. A smaller meeting room is also available. The lodge has lavatory facilities.
This building serves as the fishery’s main ‘office’ and can be used for greeting/breakfasting with your guests.
The package includes the use of all equipment including rod, reel, line, nets, and flies as well as polarised sunglasses. Guests can bring their own equipment if desired.
All of our instructors have taken the relevant national qualification and so your guests will make the transition from novice to competent fly fisher in no time at all. This is made all the easier with personal tuition on the practice lawns before they are taken to the lakes to catch their first fish. Gillies are then on hand throughout the day to provide help and advice when required. As part of the introduction to fly fishing we can also include an introductory session on the entomology of Holbury Lakes, knowledge of the trout’s food sources can be very helpful in securing a successful catch.
For lunch you may choose the type of lunch that you require. Anywhere from a bring your own picnic to a Steak dinner. We also provide tea, coffee and soft drinks throughout the day.
Whether your guests catch a fish or not, they will leave with either a fresh Rainbow trout or a side of our trout which has been expertly smoked locally.
If you want to add extra interest to the day, we can also run competitions for teams and individuals (biggest fish, heaviest brace, best novice etc).
